Rethymno Roussospiti

Located 9 km southeast of Rethymno at an altitude of 300 meters  It was built in the 12th century by the Venetians, as evidenced by the Venetian buildings of the village (arches, gates, fountains). At that time the village was built a house "Russo", ie red and thus named the village and there is a version to built this house a Russian (Roussa) woman and so named. In 1583 they recorded 157 inhabitants.

The village lies on the slope of Vrisinas at an altitude of 300 meters and 9 km from Rethymno with 374 inhabitants.
